5 podcasts we can’t live without in 2020

As you can probably tell, here at Concept DCF we live and breathe all things design. From photos and videos to trade shows and expos – there’s a myriad of ways to immerse yourself in design. One of our favourites (and that’s sometimes overlooked), is podcasts. Your companion for commutes, laundry chores and long bath soaks, the humble podcast is as accessible as it is educational – and today we’re sharing our top picks to get you started.

 

Interiors Addict Chat (by Interiors Addict)

From the creator of one of Australia’s most popular design blogs comes the podcast: Interiors Addict Chat. Publisher Jen Bishop, a former newspaper and magazine journalist, has been a full-time interior design blogger for five years, so she knows a thing or two about design.

Why we love it?

Interiors Addict Chat shares the inspiring work and expert advice of Jen’s large network of the best in local design talent, as well as her own renovation journey. The tips and tricks shared in Jen’s blog and podcast are suitable for those of us who demand a stylish, on-trend home – regardless of the limits of our budget.

 

Beauty IQ Uncensored (by Adore Beauty)

Great design doesn’t start with a plan or pretty Pinterest board – it starts with looking after yourself. The experts at Adore Beauty share their wealth of knowledge in their podcast: Beauty IQ Uncensored.

Why we love it?

Expect a healthy dose of education and laughs. Hosts Beauty Editor Joanna and beauty newbie Hannah delve into everything from at home shellac removal to skin needling – nothing is off-limits. Warning: Not suitable for the school pick up.

 

Building With BuildHer (by BuildHer Collective)

BuildHer Collective came about from a desire to help women with building and renovating. Founders Kribashini and Rebeka believe that with the right tools (pun intended), everyone can achieve their building dreams.

Why we love it?

At Concept DCF, we’re all for empowering women – and we love businesses that share the same view. From on trend topics such as building during COVID and how to create a killer kitchen, Building with Buildher delves into all aspects of design, development, construction and that dreaded b-word.

 

The Design Files Talks (by The Design Files)

The new kid on the block, this design-focussed podcast is the brainchild of top design blog The Design Files. Melbourne-based founder and stylist Lucy interviews interesting and noteworthy Australian creatives, from designers, artists and makers, to successful creative entrepreneurs, and architects.

Why we love it?

An interesting and engaging podcast that will keep you connected with the design world, The Design Files Talks delves deeper than just the aesthetics of the design world, exploring topics such as mental health, leadership and juggling family with business.

 

After Work Drinks

If you’re not a big fan of podcasts, start here. Brought to you by magazine journalists and best friends Isabelle Truman and Grace O’Neill, After Work Drinks is a weekly pop culture, news and entertainment podcast filled with down-to-earth attitude and infectious humour.

Why we love it?

After all those other design podcasts have you pondering and planning, After Work Drinks is the perfect podcast to finish off your week As the name suggests, all you need to do is kick back with a glass of Pinot on a Friday night and flick on this podcast (or any other night… and with any other drink of choice) – no notepad or pen required.
