3 budget-friendly ways to update your interior this weekend

Having spent the last few months doing everything – working, eating, home schooling, even date-nighting – from within the confines of your home’s four walls, it’s fair to assume that you’ve probably grown a little tired of your current interior.

Luckily, there are a myriad of quick and easy options to spruce things up without breaking the bank – here are our top picks that you can implement right now.

Update your shelf vignettes

Is the bookshelf in your living room looking a little dusty? Or maybe the hallway console needs a little sprucing up. We recommend removing all the existing décor first – this will give you a fresh slate to work on. It’s also a great opportunity to freshen up those surfaces with a thorough clean!

Before replacing all the books, art and other tidbits, take a moment to assess your current shelving and tabletop situation. Think about where you’d like to display these, or if you’d like to keep them at all. This could be the perfect time to donate some pieces you no longer love. Sometimes all it takes is a bit of a rearrangement to freshen up a space – you may even discover a hidden treasure you had forgotten about!

Focus on the walls

You know those “four walls” you’re so sick of? They could be the antidote to your interior boredom. An update to your wall décor could be just what you and your interior need right now. While it’s unlikely you already have an existing collection of art ready to hang, why not start planning with what you do have?

There is no rush to acquire the perfect art collection – but you may find that one or two additions is all you need to get your gallery wall up and running. Whether it’s supporting an artist you follow on Instagram or using an online store such as Art Pharmacy, there are plenty of avenues to acquire reasonably priced art or prints. Maybe you even got a little creative during iso and crafted something of your own – hang it proudly with the rest of your collection.

Warm things up with colour and texture

It’s cold, it’s dark and it’s gloomy. But that doesn’t mean you need an entire interior update to counteract the winter blues. The use of colour and texture are key to creating an inviting and comfortable space all year round. These elements become even more crucial as soon as the temperature drops.

Take advantage of all the current EOFY deals – add some rich velvet cushions to your sofa or include a set of rustic burnt orange sheets in your bedroom repertoire. And don’t forget to show your bathroom or kitchen some TLC! These spaces are normally dominated by hard, cold surfaces such at tiles, stone and metal – a plush new bathmat or fresh floral arrangement could be just what they need to feel warmer and more inviting.
