6 best home scents to invest in for spring

From candles and diffusers to incense sticks and room mists, home fragrance is the one of the most effective ways to take your interior to another level. We may still be in lockdown, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be a decadent experience filled with some of the world’s most sensational scents.

Whether it’s the deep, earthy scents or sweet floral aromas you’re into, our line-up has you covered. These six brands are our absolute favourites (and we hope they’ll become yours too!).

Maison Balzac

Handmade in Sydney, Australia, Maison Balzac candles elicit good smells and even better aesthetics. Founder Elise Pioch named the brand after her grandfather, André Balzac, who is related to Honoré de Balzac, French writer from the 1800s. Each candle in their collection is developed as an ode to memories from founder Pioch’s childhood in the South of France.

From her experience working in fashion in Paris and Sydney, Elise sought to create a range that was both beautiful and sentimental. Working with makers and perfumers in Australia, she has created a range of signature scents that evoke olfactive memories or experiences; these candles make up the core Maison Balzac range.

Alchemy Produx

The brainchild of Melbourne duo Sara and Tristan, it was nine years ago that they decided to join forces and combine their backgrounds in fashion design and chemistry. Handmade using 100% natural soy wax, Alchemy Produx fuse chemistry and design to create their unique candles. Their chemistry-inspired glassware includes beakers and conical flasks and exude a minimalist and industrial trend.

Diptyque

Synonymous with luxury, Diptyque candles are as much about beautiful scents as they are about creating world class interiors. Famous for its intriguing scents, Diptyque has been bringing us exquisite home fragrances since 1961. These Parisian delicacies are the perfect choice to create a soothing and welcoming environment.

First launched as a boutique on Paris’ Boulevard Saint-Germain, Diptyque challenges conventional perfumery with its elegant scented candles, diffusers and Eau de Toilettes. Beautifully presented in signature ‘Oval’ packaging, each fragrance is a delicate balance of rare and precious ingredients.

Byredo

Founded in Stockholm in 2006, European luxury brand Byredo strives to translate memories and emotions into products and experiences. The luxury brand uses the world's highest-quality ingredients to create its perfumes and candles, which are beloved for their inspiring scents—and instantly recognisable for their minimalistic package design. In addition to the incredibly chic and minimal packaging, the unisex scents are as unique as they come.

Bor.Dan

One of the newer kids on the block, Bor.Dan came about in 2017. Hailing from our very own Melbourne, Bor.Dan draws its inspiration from minimalist trends where the concept of “less is more” is emphasised. Their striking amber jars are filled with quality soy blend wax from Europe, while their beautiful scents are a perfect balance of fragrance and essential oils. Hand poured in small production rounds, each candle is guaranteed to be a delightful indulgence.

Tom Ford

If you know Tom Ford, you know you’re in for a treat. From the chic square packaging, smoky brown glass and signature gold metal label, everything about their range of candles screams Tom Ford. Cleverly, they have recreated some of their most cult-worthy Tom Ford fragrances in luxurious scents for your home. Signature scents from the Private Blend collection include Oud Wood, Neroli Portofino, Tobacco Vanille, Tuscan Leather, Cafe Rose, and White Suede.
