structure and surface: stockholm 2021
our february 2021 stockholm design week selection brought together furniture and objects with distinct approaches to structure, surface and scale. retained as an archive, the pieces offer references for balancing sculptural form with everyday use.
our furniture selection in melbourne considers these qualities within a particular room. the names below identify the original selection; current finishes, specifications and availability should be confirmed with the suppliers.
puffy lounge chair — faye toogood for hem
the puffy chair places generous upholstery over an exposed frame. that contrast between soft volume and a defined structure gives the piece its character, and suggests how opposing materials can work together within a room.
koku tables — fogia and norm architects
koku combines timber with slender metal elements. the relationship between the top and its support gives the table a particular balance, making the view from different parts of a room important when considering its position.
échasse — theresa rand for menu
glass held within a brass frame gives the échasse vessels a sense of lightness. the amber version in this archive adds colour through transparency, changing with the background and the light passing through it.
space rugs — sundling kickén for ogeborg
the space collection explores pattern through contrasting textile structures. a restrained rug can still carry depth through the way its surface catches the light, especially beside smoother upholstery or stone.
cloud vessels — tom dixon
the cloud pieces introduce rounded metal forms and a reflective surface. their visible variations in finish bring the making of the object into the arrangement, while the surrounding room is reflected back through the material.
interior decoration and styling brings these individual references into conversation with architecture, art and textiles, allowing a coherent and personal setting to emerge.
